Route Details
If nature in its purest form is your thing, the descent of the Barranco de Masca is an experience not to be missed. This trek will take you through a narrow gorge between high walls of volcanic rock to reach a remote cove at the foot of Los Gigantes. To round off, you’ll return by boat to enjoy the breathtaking views from the sea.
Meeting point
We will meet at the bus stop next to the Plaza de Santiago del Teide. There you will be met by our guide, who will explain the whole itinerary before taking the transport to the start of the route.
Scenic route to Masca
The journey to Masca is already a small adventure. A winding road between mountains offers breathtaking scenery, with natural viewpoints that will take your breath away. A visual appetizer before the great descent.
Caserío de Masca: tradition in the heart of nature
Before starting the hike, you will have the opportunity to explore this small rural hamlet. Its traditional houses, its views and its peaceful atmosphere are a real journey back in time to the most authentic Tenerife.
The descent: 5 km of excitement
The route crosses a spectacular gorge surrounded by walls up to 600 metres high. Along the 5 km trail, you will walk through the native vegetation, listen to the murmur of the water and experience total immersion in a wild and imposing environment. The sensation of walking among giants is simply unforgettable.
Masca Cove: the hidden jewel
At the end of the ravine a magical cove awaits you, surrounded by the colossal cliffs of Los Gigantes. Although bathing is not allowed, being there, contemplating the immensity of the landscape, is a reward in itself.
Return by boat
After the effort, it’s time to relax. We will board a boat that will take us to Los Gigantes Marina. From the sea, you will enjoy a unique perspective of these volcanic cliffs, a natural spectacle that impresses with its height and beauty.
Return transfer
Once on dry land, our team will take you back to the meeting point to close this adventure in total comfort.

This route is not recommended for:
People with heart or respiratory conditions.
Pregnant women.
Children under 8 years of age.
People with reduced mobility.

We take care of your canyoning permit.
The route is of medium difficulty, so previous hiking experience is recommended.
Courtesy waiting time: 10 minutes.
If the guide considers that a participant is not able to complete the route, he/she may request that he/she return to the start for his/her safety. It will be ensured that they have water, food and adequate physical conditions to do so, also informing the control points distributed along the ravine.
Cancellation and exchange policy
Free cancellation up to 72 hours before the activity.
In case of closure of the canyon due to external causes (weather, security, etc.):
If notice is given prior to the day of the excursion, a new date will be proposed or the amount will be refunded.
If it takes place on the same day, an alternative route will be provided, including return transport and a tasting lunch of Canarian products. In this case, there will be no refund, as an equivalent or superior experience will be offered.
If the closure is already inside the gully, the best possible alternative will be managed on the spot.
